Mary E. Gussman, 74, lifetime resident of Arizona and currently resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away Monday, July 10, 2006. She was born to Samuel and Bertha (Suddeth) George on October 29, 1932 in Clarkdale, Arizona. Mary grew up and graduated from Clarkdale High School. She then attended Northern Arizona University where she obtained her Masters Degree in Education. As an adult, Mary had an extensive work history: she was employed with Selna Grocery from 1947-1950, Safeway from 1951-1955, Flagstaff Public School from 1959-1965, Northern Arizona University from 1966-1969, and from 1971-1990, Mary returned to Flagstaff Public Schools. Mary was also very proud her education and the numerous degrees she had the opportunity to achieve: Masters of Education, Masters of Physiology, Masters of Home Economics, and Masters of English Literature. She was also a member of several sororities. Mary was an avid reader, having read 10's of thousands of books. She was also an accomplished chef, oil painter, knitter, quilter, porcelain artist, and seamstress. Mary was a devoted mother and a loving wife. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard A. Gussman, as well as her parents. Mary leaves behind her only child and son, Greg L Gussman with his wife, Kimberly of Flagstaff, Arizona. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 10:00am at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale, Arizona.
