Mary E. Moeny, 87, of Cottonwood, Arizona, died at her home on November 2, 2006. She was born May 10, 1919 in Hamilton, Ontario Canada to Rev. James E. Leach and Mary N. Neilson Leach. Mary grew up in Paddickwood, Saskatchewan, Canada and later attended school in England. At the outbreak of World War II, she enlisted in the Royal Air Force and served as a WAAF officer and was a radar plotter with 13th Group in Inverness, Scotland. She plotted the first German air raid of the London Blitz and plotted the British planes going out to sink the German battleship Bismarck. Mary came to the United States as the war bride of D. Lloyd Allen. Mary married William C. Moeny in 1967 and they lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1971, Bill and Mary moved to Carrollton, Georgia where they lived for sixteen years. Mary was a writer and while living in Georgia, she became a realtor, a profession Mary enjoyed greatly. After retirement, Mary and Bill traveled the United States and Canada with their RV, finally settling in Cottonwood, Arizona. Mary became very active in church life at St Thomas Episcopal Church in Clarkdale, singing in the choir and working with many church organizations and committees.. She is survived by her brother, Billy Leach of Wichita, Kansas and three children, Chris Allen of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Diane Wolf of Phoenix, Arizona and Bruce Allen of San Diego, California. She is also survived by her husband, Bill Moeny of the family home in Cottonwood and his four children, Bill Mike Moeny of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jim Moeny of Cottonwood, Arizona, Susan Hawkins of Valley Center, California and Nancy Nash of Alamosa, Colorado. Also surviving Mary are seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at St. Thomas of the Valley Episcopal Church in Clarkdale, Arizona, Saturday November 11, 2006 11:00 AM.
