Mary Chavis Rocha a resident of Clarkdale, Arizona passed away July 3, 2016 in Cottonwood. She was born August 26th, 1915 in Winslow, AZ to Jose and Josephine Chavis. The Icon and Matriarch of her family died peacefully surrounded by love and family. She was our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother and longtime resident of Clarkdale Az. She went home to be with her honey in heaven to celebrate his birthday which was on the 4th of July. Mary was a homemaker the majority of her life, although in her younger years she had been employed as a checker (as she called it) with Safeway in Flagstaff. She was also employed at the Navajo Army Depot in Belmont packing grenades and many types of ammunition for the Military. Mary was a jack of all trades which kept her busy, even down to owning a bar in Flagstaff called the "Pichelito" it was everybody's bar as she called it. There are a few remaining people who still reminisce about it to this day. Mary's love for her family and many get-togethers is what she enjoyed most while sipping on a cold Coors light. She loved all music and would dance in her chair. She also enjoyed her many trips to the casino and playing a game of poker, the gambling skills she acquired from her mother. The love of Bingo kept her going even past her 100th Birthday. There she met the loving people who cared for her just as much as her own family. No words can describe this strong woman and the beauty she carried within and the beautiful smile she'd give to all. Her feistiness, humor and strong-will kept her going. She will be so greatly missed by all who loved her and the void in our hearts will now be filled with the joy and laughter and the wonderful memories and legacy she left behind. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Felix F. Rocha Sr. and grandson William Ryan "Jr." She is survived by her sons Felix Jr. (Ruth) Rocha, of Cottonwood, Ted (Vicky) of Clarkdale. Daughters Dolores of Cottonwood, Prescilla (Louie) of Cottonwood and sister Carol Greening of Sedona. 18 Grandchildren, 40 Great-Grandchildren and 19 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
