Mary Ellen Robyn Waterman died May 25, 2003 at Verde Valley Medical Center, Cottonwood, Arizona after a brief illness. Born October 3, 1911 in Glenmora, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late William Crumbly and Leontine (Kelone) Nash and the great-granddaughter of Patrick Kellone (Killoren) who immigrated to America in August 1844 from County Roscommon, Ireland. Upon graduation from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana, Mary Ellen attended Tulane University to study nursing. At Tulane, she participated in the nursing program\u0027s pioneering film on baby and child care. While in New Orleans in 1939, she met and married Clarence K. Robyn from St. Louis, Missouri. Married over 50 years, they lived in New Orleans, St. Louis and Humboldt, Tennessee. In 1977, they chose to retire in Clarkdale, Arizona. Widowed in 1993, Mary Ellen married long-time family friend and widower John J. Waterman from Tucson. John preceded her in death in 1998. Mary Ellen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Humboldt, worked as a medical secretary and volunteer at various hospitals, and was active throughout her life in garden clubs, bridge groups and other civic organizations, including giving her time as a reading volunteer at the Clarkdale-Jerome Elemenetary Schhol. Surviving her are her children: daughter Susan J. Robyn of Prescott, Arizona; son Colonel Eric W. Robyn (Sally), U.S. Army (Retired) of Savannah, Georgia and a son, Dr. Richard C. Robyn (Sylviane) of Twinsburg, Ohio; five grandsons, David Weiss of Mariposa, California; William Weiss (Tanya) of Boise, Idaho; Benjamin Bochenek of Prescott, Arizona; Major Paul Robyn (Dawn), U.S.Army, West Point, New York, and James Robyn (Nicole) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and six great-grandchildren, Maranda and Makenzi Weiss, Merdeith, Emily, Gavin and Karin Robyn. Her brother-in-law, Noel L. Robyn, still resides in Clarkdale. A memorial service/reception for family and friends will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, May 31 at Cottonwood Village in Cottonwood, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable contributions be made to the Salvation Army, Disabled Vetereans of America, or the library of your choice in memory of Mary Ellen Robyn Waterman.
