Nadean Joyce "Dee" Zabel, 90, of Cottonwood , Arizona died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in Sedona , AZ She was born February 19, 1920 in Manhattan , Kansas the daughter of John Coder and Mabel Coder She excelled in school and was a member of the National Honor Society. Following her graduation, she was employed as the secretary to the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University , but after she married, she devoted all of her time to her husband and daughters. The family resided in Wichita , Kansas , from 1956 through 1971. There she was active in school and church activities, serving as a room mother and President of the PTA. She taught Sunday school and Bible school and was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling, and the family traveled through the United States visiting National Parks and historic sites every summer. She indulged her children\u0027s love for pets. After moving to Arizona , she continued her work in the Presbyterian Church and was instrumental in the founding of the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood , which was to be her lasting church home. Her travels expanded to include the world. She always found a kind word to say and made friends wherever she went. She was preceded in Death by her husband of 62 years, Dale Zabel; Sisters, Mynette Farmer and Marjorie Coder and a brother Robert Coder She is survived by daughters: Marjorie Meyer ( Lynn) of Tucson and Nancy Jenson (Michael) of Chicago , Illinois; Sister, Gladys Manly (Ralph -deceased) of Lacey, Washington and grandchildren: Bjorn, Monique, Sasha, and Mekaela Meyer A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church , 1500 E.
