On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Nancy Gammonley, loving wife, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed into Jesus’ arms.
Nancy was born May 4, 1944, in Harvey, IL, to Lt. Raymond W Gibson and Doris Mae Gibson, née Stone. At 18 months, Nancy was discovered to have been born with Cerebral Palsy. Despite her condition, she embraced every opportunity and enjoyed a full life.
Growing up in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California, Nancy graduated from Lowman Elementary School and Dr. Joseph Pomeroy Widney High School. She was an avid Dodgers fan, or she was an avid announcer Vin Scully fan! At one game she attended, he came down to her seat to meet and visit with her.
While working for Goodwill Industries, she met her soulmate Robert, and they married on September 11, 1971. Their marriage lasted over 48 years until Robert passed last August. Nancy was named Goodwill Worker of the Year and had the honor of being presented with her award by then California Governor Ronald Reagan.
Nancy and Robert moved to Las Vegas, NV, in 1990. They enjoyed going to Native American shows as well as casinos - on occasion! They both enjoyed anything Disney and had an extensive collection of Disney art and memorabilia. They were fortunate to do some traveling, including two Caribbean cruises.
They went to Washington state to visit sister Linda, her husband Joe, and their son Mark, including a visit to Whistlin Jack’s Lodge and the Seattle area. They visited same family in Virginia, saw the World War II Memorial, other DC sights, and Annapolis, MD.
Nancy enjoyed reading, especially biographies and memoirs. She loved playing board games like Parcheesi, Park and Shop, Chinese Checkers, Triominos, and Bingo.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, her parents, a devoted cousin Edna, and a sister Carol. She is survived by brother Ray Gibson and his wife Audrey, sister Linda Hennessey and her husband Joe, nephew Mark Hennessey and family, and sister Linda Joy Kiracibasi.
