Narcisso M. Hernandez

August 24, 1932 — March 23, 2011

Narcisso Marquez Hernandez Jr., 78 of Cottonwood , passed away March 23, 2011 due to a very rare terminal illness called Terminal Miltonic Dystrophy. He was born August 24, 1932 in East Los Angeles , California . He grew up in Happy Valley , CA and throughout the Los Angeles area. He was known to his family and close friends as "Gandy" and also known to his current family/friends as "Senior" or "Narco". He joined the U.S. Army 1950-1953 with a tour in Germany and served towards the end of the Korean War where he was awarded various medals, including a Good Conduct Medal. He worked for Dart Warehouse as a supervisor for 37 years and also at this time he was a Teamsters Union Member. He was known for his hard work in moving up the ladder and earned much respect from his fellow co-workers, according to his close friend and ex co-worker Mario Fernandez. He loved to take his yearly camping/boating trips to various lakes with his family, friends and many family pets and enjoy the sun, fishing and camping while listening to his "Oldies but goodies" with Art Laboe. He had a special way of dealing with things, while joking and laughing or even his grumpy ways you always knew you could depend on him for a good time. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Margarita Lomeli Hernandez; two sons from his previous marriage Michael and Christopher Hernandez; and his step children by marriage Louis Mendez, Nina Flores, Rebecca Talbert, David Mendez and Michael Mendez. He is also survived by two younger sisters Helen Lopez and Lilly Hernandez. He also had several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and godchildren. A rosary/memorial service will begin Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Westcott Funeral Home (1013 E. Mingus Ave, Cottonwood) from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Mass services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church (Bill Gray Road, Cottonwood) from 11:00am-1:00pm with burial procession to Cave Creek Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2:00pm with a family gathering and Celebration of Life in honor of Narcisso (Gandy/Senior) Hernandez from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
