Nels Wilbur Peterson

Nels Wilbur Peterson, 86, resident of Sedona, Arizona, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006. He was born on August 29, 1919 to Nels and Olga Peterson in Turin, Iowa, where he grew up and graduated from Onowa High School. In his twenties, Nels moved to Washington, where he was living with his Aunt, but after the bombing at Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the United States Navy, bravely serving his country during WWII. He always carried the title of U.S. WWII Veteran with great pride. In 1947, after his service in the Military, Nels met and married the love of his life, Virgina Weldon. They settled in Whittier, California, where they raised their children. After their children were grown they moved to Sedona, Arizona. He was well known in Sedona and the surrounding area for his work as a Real Estate Broker. He continuously kept the MLS current and he complied all monthly stats until just recently. Nels dedicated over 45 years of his life to the Real Estate Business. Nels was always eager to learn, he regularly took courses to keep updated and current in his business. In his sixties, he learned to fly. Primarily he did this because his son, Nels, also flew, and this allowed them quality time together. It also enabled them to spend more time with other family members, as traveling was made much easier. In his seventies, Nels learned all there was to know about computers. He knew many of the advanced, intricate details and could find his way around on the computer better than most people half his age. He was also a family man. Nels was a very dedicated husband, and a very devoted father. Time spent with his family was always a priority. He made family times special. Christmas was alway a big ordeal and much effort was put forth to get family together and make that time of year rememberable. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia Peterson of Sedona, Arizona; his son, Nels Peterson of Sedona, Arizona; his daughter, Judith Rehbeck with her husband, Rory, and their daughter, Sara Rehbeck, Nels\u0027only adored granddaughter, all of Lancaster, California; his brother, Verl Peterson with his wife, Florence of Turin, Iowa; and his sister, Vivian Ravnsborg, also of Turin, Iowa.
