Orris E. Oestereich was born on June 1, 1920 to Paul A. Oestereich and Melissa (Marshall) Oestereich. He served in the U.S. Airforce as Radio and Radar Tech and was honorably discharged. After working in his father\u0027s blacksmith shop as a young man, he attended a trade school for welding. His working career as an expert welder and supervisor was with Rheem Mfg. Co., Solar Aircraft Co., Aircraft Gen. Co. and retired from Bechtel Corp in 1985. His work involved welding on jet engines, Polaris Missiles and nuclear reactors in power plants in California (San Onofre), Arizona and Paloverde. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers Paul, Marshall, Eldred, Ellis and Ersel and son Robert. He is survived by wife Carolyn; daughter Patty Paul; son James; niece Mary Hinde (Donnie); stepchildren Gaylord Briggs (Kathy), Janie Young (Jack), Susie Blum (Jack) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved sports and took great pride in watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in all school sports and activities. He was a lifetime member for over sixty-five years in the Benevolent Order of Elks. His final resting place will be in the Elks sections of Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale.
