Paul Gerhard Lidbeck passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at home in Clarkdale, Arizona, on Sept. 6, 2024. He was the last surviving child of five siblings.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Sue, and his three children and their spouses, Sheryl Griffin (Calvin) of Clarkdale, AZ, Glenn Penkoff Lidbeck (Stasia) of Essex, CT, and Jill Ratzloff (Jake) of Peoria, AZ, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His family meant the world to him and he will be remembered as an excellent father and provider with a notorious sense of humor and a one-of-a-kind laugh.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Paul made his way as an adult to California where he eventually married Sue Burnett and they started their family.
In 1963 they moved to Arizona where they worked as a team to manage the United Methodist Camp atop Mingus Mountain. Paul was the Camp Director and Sue was the Director of Food Service. They served together for more than 30 years, touching the lives of thousands of campers with their passion for the camping ministry.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a future date.
