Philip L. Phillips passed away on January 19, 2011. He was born on a farm at Bean Blossom, Indiana on March 9, 1936; moving to Arizona in 1955. Following service in the U.S. Marine Corp, he was employed by the Phoenix Police Department and later the Tucson Police Department. He married Hop Helene Hill in 1959. This union produced one son, Randy. In 1962 the family moved to California where he was employed as an insurance investigator and later with the California Department of Corrections from which he retired in 1996 as a Lieutenant. Following a divorce he met and married Sandy J. Bousquet in 1979. Phil has been a member of Lions Club International; belonging to numerous clubs over his thirty some years of membership. He was a DG from July 2009 to June 2010 and PMJ member and active in the boy scouts while living in California serving as scoutmaster, commissioner and instructor. He is survived by his wife Sandy, a son Randy Phillips of Irving, TX; two grandsons Chris and Randy Jr.; one granddaughter Makayla all of Irving, TX; three brothers Don of Steamboat Springs, CO, Larry of Sonoita, AZ and Terry of Annapolis, MD; one sister Nancy Northrup of Fountain Hills, AZ and one step-sister Joanne Lauder of Seaford, DE. The body will be cremated and inurnment will be at the National Cemetery in Cave Creek. A church service will be held at the Payson UMC, Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 5:00pm. A memorial service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek on January 31, 2011 beginning at 1:00pm. No flowers are requested, but contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association, the Salvation Army or Lions Club International Foundation.
