Phyllis Jean Clarke, 67, resident of Cottonwood, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2007. She was born on April 11, 1940 in Hermantown, Minnesota to Ruth and Melvin Clarke. Phyllis lived in northern Minnesota for twenty-three years. During her time there she was active in the Dinner Theatre in Virginia, Minnesota; acted as assistant director, and also did a little acting herself. She was also a den leader for a Cub Scout Group, and was very active with the single parent group. Upon moving to Cottonwood, Phyllis was active at Mountain View United Methodist Church; she sang in the church and the Verde Valley Voices Choir. She loved her family, music, and dancing. Phyllis leaves behind five children, Krisanne Church of Cottonwood, Arizona, Jeff Church of Sauk Rapid, Minnesota, Ruth Rankins of Glendora, California, Gary Lund with Patrick Sands of Cottonwood, Arizona, and James Church with his wife, Valerie of Lakeville, Minnesota. Phyllis had eleven siblings, Curtis Clarke with his wife, Jan of Silver Bay, Minnesota, Donald Clarke of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, Melvin Clarke with his wife, Rita of Sutherlin, Oregon, Richard Clarke of Duluth, Minnesota, Dennis Clarke (deceased), Louise Finehaut with her husband, Roy of Arkansas, Audrey Bersall of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, Marianne (deceased), Edna Clarke of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, and Cathy Forbort with her husband, Paul of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. Phyllis also leaves behind eleven beautiful grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved by her family and friends; she will be dearly missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Sunday, October 28, 2007, at 6:00pm at the Mountain View United Methodist Church in Cottonwood.
