Phyllis Constance Ventura, 75, of Cornville, passed away on January 19, 2022, in Cottonwood. She was born in Bremerton, Washington on June 26, 1946, to William and Nan Bauer. Phyllis attended Lincoln Elementary School in Vancouver, WA and High School in Fairbanks, Alaska where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California and Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon receiving her bachelor’s degree. Phyllis joined the United States Army and received the rank of 2nd lieutenant. She was a member of the Woman’s Army Corp (WAC). She was a member of Verde Community Church and Clarkdale Baptist Church. She loved to travel and loved to sew. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents William Bauer and Nan Smith Bauer. She is survived by her husband of 5 years, Paul Frederick Dornes, Jr; sister Judith Bauer Woodall Turner of Gig Harbor, Washington; and nieces Nancy Giacolone and Sally Adams, also from Gig Harbor, Washington. Phyllis will be interred in the Prescott National Cemetery at a later date.
