Ralph W. Higgs, 75 of Cottonwood, passed away on April 8, 2015. He was born on August 24, 1939 in Longview, Texas to Ralph S. and Mary L. Higgs. Ralph attended schools in Kilgore/Gladewater, Texas and Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas. He served his country in the Air Force. He worked, owned and retired from Fil A Bil Grocery in Atlanta, Texas. He belonged to Sunridge Community Church and worked for them as an accountant and bookkeeper and also Verde Baptist Church in Cottonwood. Ralph loved music. He enjoyed playing his many guitars; traveling the Northwest, reading his Bible, hiking, fishing and had many interests in nature. He was a kind, gentle man who went out of his way to help others. He loved his family and watching his grandchildren at their many activities. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Mary. He is survived by his wife if 52 years, Lola Higgs; son Christopher W. Higgs of Cottonwood; daughter Shelley R. Pelino (Tom) of Phoenix; sister Anita Powell (Ernest) of Austin, Texas and 3 grandchildren Jacob, Anna and Nicolas Pelino. A Memorial Celebration will be held at the home of sister and brother-in-law Carol and Graig Lovell in Cottonwood on Saturday April 25, 2015 at 2:00pm.
