Ray D. Hammock, 74 of Cottonwood, passed away at home on April 30, 2013. He was born on October 23, 1938 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Claudie William Hammock and Ruby Elizabeth Taylor. Ray attended Waco schools. He worked for Western Electric/Mountain Bell. Ray belonged to the Calvary Chapel of the Verde Valley. As a member of the Gideons Ray loved to pass out bibles and assist in placing them. Dad loved to sing and played many instruments by ear. He loved the old Hymns and Bluegrass music. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Claudie and Ruby. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wilma; son Melvin Hammock (Cyndi) of Flagstaff; daughters Terry Hammock (Mike Beck) of Tucson and Sherry Kelley of Cottonwood; brother Jerry Hammock (Linda) of Virginia; sisters Judy Hammock and Melva Hammock both of California; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 19 at 1:00pm at Calvary Chapel of the Verde Valley, 465 S. Calvary Way in Cottonwood.
