Rebecca R. Schumann

Rebecca R. Schumann 87, formerly of Gallup, New mexico and of Cottonwood, Arizona passed away on Friday, October 3, 2003 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was born May 11, 1916. Mrs. Schumann lived for many years on the Navajo Indian Reservation at Ft. Defiance, in Arizona. She worked for the civil service in Public Health Office where she was the Personnel Assistant to the Medical Officer in Charge. She was very active in the summer youth programs and was well known for her ability to work with children of all ages. She retired on Novenber 12, 1964 due to health reasons. In 1965 Rebecca and her husband Herman moved to Cottonwood, Arizona. Herman passed away in 1990. She was a charter member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employess Chapter # 1147. She was the membership chairperson for 27 years. She was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Church in Cottonwood. She moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1994 due to failing health. Mrs. Schumann is survived by her two sons and their wives: Robert J. and Monica Ann Schumann of Window Rock, Arizona; Herbert H. and Angela Schumann of Tempe, Arizona ; eight Grandchildren: Patricia Ann Schumann of Tucson, Arizona; Charles E. Schumann of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Mary Karen Schumann; Amy Schumann Ruskin of Tucson, Arizona; Michael Schumann of Window Rock, Arizona; Katharine Schumann of Tempe, Arizona; Benjamin Schumann and Karla Schumann both of Phoenix, Arizona and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 10th, in Cottonwood, Arizona at Immaculate Conception Church 700 N. Bill Grey Road. Visitaion will begin at 11:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 P.M., burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Clarkdale, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to American Diabetes Association, P O Box 13141, Prescott, AZ 86304. Westcott Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
