Richard (Dick) Bridgewater

November 18, 1932 — April 1, 2010

Richard Donald Bridgewater, 77, of Cottonwood passed quietly on April 1. He was born November 18, 1932, in Little York , IN, the husband of Gladys Bridgewater and father of Rick, Rena, Renee (deceased), and Robin Bridgewater. He will be remembered as loving husband and father and devoted patriot. He was involved in the Police Officer Reserve in each city of residence in Nevada and Arizona . He served as Council Member and Vice Mayor for many years in Cottonwood . He moved to Cottonwood as manager of Valley National Bank and he retired in Cottonwood as business owner of Radio Shack. He loved his country and enjoyed reading, coin and stamp collecting, and vintage cars. He was a member of Verde Baptist Church . Dick will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Gladys of Cottonwood, sister Barbara (Jerry) Meadors, of Danville, Indiana, brother Evan (Linda) of Scottsburg, Indiana, son Rick (Tracey) of Claypool, Indiana, daughter Rena of Peoria, Arizona, and daughter Robin (Pat) of Flagstaff, Arizona. A traditional military service in honor of his life and love for his country will be held on April 9, 2010, at 1:30 p.m., at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road , Phoenix , AZ 85012 . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Verde Baptist Church , 102 S. Willard St. , Cottonwood , AZ 86326 , or the Verde Valley Humane Society, P O Box 1429 , Cottonwood , AZ 86326 .
