Richard Philip Doran died January 27, 2014 at his home in Cottonwood. He was born October 4, 1933 in Sidney, MT to Paul and Ruth Doran. He attended grade school in Great Falls, MT and graduated high school in Bozeman, MT. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy and became a Radar Radio Technician in the Navy Air Corps. He served during the Korean War stationed in Okinawa. He was part of an aircraft crew that patrolled the China coast. After getting out of the service at the age of 20, he had just started college. October 4 he turned 21 and December 4 he broke his neck in a car accident. He became a quadriplegic and spent the next 59 years in a wheelchair. He lived for 5 years in a VA hospital in Chicago, IL, 3 years in Guadalajara, Mexico and 6 years in Tucson, AZ before he married Ruth Taylor. They were married on June 15, 1969. This June would have been their 45th wedding anniversary. Richard and Ruth made Cottonwood their home in 1982. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Daniel P. Doran, He is survived by his wife Ruth, sister Donna Olson of Tyler, TX and many nephews and nieces. He was a member of Cottonwood Christian Assembly for many years and served on the board. Services will be Saturday, February 1 at 11:00 AM at Cottonwood Christian Assembly Church, 750 E. Mingus Ave (next to the post office).
