Robert Royce Maine, 81, of Lake Montezuma died August 16. He was born July 30, 1924 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. A Marine Corp veteran, he served during World War II. Mr. Maine graduated from Rhinelander High School and retired as a Civil Engineer for the federal government. He previously had worked as a construction estimator and supervisor for C. W. Christ Construction in Sidney, Nebraska. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Golf Club and the American Legion. His hobbies included golfing, woodworking, cattle ranching, fishing, hunting and his family. He loved math and engineering problems. Mr. Maine leaves his wife of 52 years, Joan Maine; sons, David R. (Lori) Maine of Cottonwood, Tim L. (Connie) Maine, of Omaha, Nebraska, James M. (Melissa) of Lake Montezuma; daughters, Bobby J. (Peter) Craven of Flagstaff, Jane M. (James C.) Burson of Wausau, Wisconsin and Mary Blalark (Rusty Goodman) of Hugo, Oklahoma; a brother, Glen Maine of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 19 in the Beaver Creek Baptist Church (next to the Rimrock Post Office) at 1 PM. A visitation will be an hour (12-1) prior to the service. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Donation is his memory may be made to Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S, Candy Lane, Cottonwood 86326.
