Rosa M. Smith, 91 of Cottonwood, passed away at home on March 5, 2011. She was born on September 27, 1919 in Munich, Germany to Frank and Rosa Rohrmoser. Rosa attended the University of Michigan. She then joined the U.S. Army during World War II. She served in W.A.C. Division and was a Sergeant. The medals and ribbons she received were Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon, 3 overseas service bars, good conduct medal and a WAAC Service ribbon. Rosa was employed primarily as an elementary school teacher but also taught at high school level in West Virginia, Arizona, Texas and California for 37 years. Rosa attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Art was her main activity outside recreational interest as an active member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society. She took part in numerous professional workshops and completed many paintings. Mother lived a full, active life and care about the people and the world around her. She was a devoted mother and a true, reliable friend to those fortunate to know her. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Elgie Smith. She is survived by son Miles of California; brother Frank Rohrmoser of Michigan; niece Joan Schmidt and nephew Don Smith, both of Arizona.
