Rosie (Kovacovich) Lacey, 86, died Wednesday, August 29, in Camp Verde. Rosie was born June 10, 1926, on the family farm in Middle Verde, AZ. Rosie spent most of her life in the Verde Valley. Her husband, Van W Lacey, worked for APS so they had also lived in Casa Grande, Joseph City, and Farmington, NM, when Van worked at power plants in those areas. Rosie had worked as a cashier for Babbitt\u0027s years ago but mainly worked as a housewife. Rosie and Van enjoyed taking the grandkids during the summer months and getting them swimming lessons at the pool in Clarkdale. She also loved to play cardsmostly Pinoccle. There were some \u0027spirited\u0027 card games at Ruth and Melvin Jensen\u0027s house for special occassions! Rosie is survived by her two daughters Patricia DeSpain (Robert) and Loretta Lacey (Brian Adair); Grandchildren Sheila Palffy-Hood (Jason), Wesley DeSpain (Dolores), and Staci Kronberg; Great-grandchildren Ryan James Bridges, Ella Pallfy, Jadiana Perez, and Jelena DeSpain; and one brother George Kovacovich plus many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three of Van\u0027s sisters and two brothers: Ruth Jensen (Melvin), Bessie Thomas (Richard), Goldie Bianconi (Bill), Harvey Lacey and Lawrence Lacey and many more nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Van W Lacey, her parents Nick and Manda Kovacovich, and six of her siblings: Mary Starkovich, Tony Kovacovich, Emil Kovacovich, Olga Calloway, Danica Ervin, and John Kovacovich. A Memorial will be held at Westcott Funeral home in Cottonwood on Tuesday, September 4 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Rosie\u0027s name to Hospice Compassus 70 Bell Rock Plaza Suite A Sedona, AZ 86351.
