Ruth Sharlot Denison, 91, of Cottonwood died November 9. She was born February 12, 1917 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Nathanael and Mamie (Rutter) Whitten. She attended Jerome elementary schools and was a graduate of Jerome High School and St. Joseph\u0027s Nursing School, where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. She worked for Phillips Dodge Corporation, Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Joseph\u0027s Hospital, Camelback Samaritan Hospital and Brophy Prep School, all in Phoenix. She owned and managed the former El Ropero Clothing Store in Cottonwood. Mrs. Denison was a fundraiser for Brophy Prep School from 1962-1987. She also helped build and present the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce building. Her hobbies included painting, redecorating, fashion consulting and traveling. She is remembered as a caring and loving mother and wife, a friend to all who met her and was a clever and fun loving person. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Whitten. Mrs. Denison leaves her husband of twenty three year, Ralph E. Denison; a son Jerry William Wicks (and his wife Sandra) of Bowling Green, Ohio; a daughter Ruth Marie Wicks of Clarkdale and two grandchildren, Kelly William Wicks (and his wife Laura) and Bridget Marie Wicks (and her husband Tobin), all of Bowling Green, Ohio and four great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of her life on Thursday, November 13 at the American Legion Post #25 in Cottonwood at 10 AM.
