Susanne Nosenzo, Loving wife of Louis Nosenzo , passed away to Our Lord on January 7, 2019, after a long battle with lung disease. She was born on December 8, 1941 to Harry and Lucille Yoders of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Waynesburg High School and Secretarial School, She left Waynesburg for Washington DC, where she embarked on a dedicated career in the United States Department of State. Susanne served tours in Paris and Brussels supporting the US delegation to NATO. After a short hiatus, She rejoined the Department as a civil servant with an initial stint in the Bureau of European affairs, She later transferred to the Bureau of Oceans, Environmental and Scientific Affairs where she served as lead Secretary in the Bureau in support of US efforts to control worldwide proliferation of nuclear weapons as well as other weapons of mass destruction. She later moved to the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, working on the Intermediate Range Nuclear forces (INF) negotiations and the Strategic Arms Reduction (START) negotiations with the USSR which succeeded in significantly reducing the nuclear arsenals of both countries. She later worked in the Department Secretariat in direct support of the Secretary of State. She retired from government in 1993. She and her husband moved to Sedona in 2004. She loved to read and watch old movies and was active in various charities including the Meals on Wheels program. Susanne is survived by her husband Louis Nosenzo and by her sister, Barbara Fischer, a nephew and niece, Mark and Tammy Fischer, and a grand niece and nephew, Stephanie and Josh Sifuentes all of Waynesburg. On her husband side, she is also survived by three step children and 7 step grandchildren. She was very much loved by her family and her many friends, and was known for a smile that could light up the room. In lieu of Flowers, please send contributions to the American Lung Association. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 10, 2019 at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Mass will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sedona.
