Sylvia L. Patterson, 85 of Cottonwood, passed away on April 18, 2013. She was born on October 4, 1927 in El Centro, California to Melvin and Esther Pippin. Sylvia attended Riverside Community College. She worked as a wedding photographer for many years, co-owner in Apple Orchard business and did extensive genealogy research with the LDS church. Her passion was family, genealogy and photography. From Craig Patterson (Grandson): I keep having flash backs to Grandma telling me the story of when she stepped outside of her body giving birth to Christy and I am reminded of the solid relationship she has with the Lord. Grandma told me that she does not fear death. This is a very sad day for us who remain here but so awesome that Grandma is now with the love that she has been missing for almost 10 years now. Her and Grandpa are probably dancing like they are twenty again. We love you. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Alton "Dusty" Patterson. She is survived by son Rocky G. Patterson (Audrey) of Cathedral City, CA; daughters Judy A. Patterson of Page Springs, AZ and Christy L. Patterson of Cottonwood; brother Thadd W. Pippin (Diane) of Redlands, CA; sisters Mary Ann (Dolly) Texeria (and her husband Tony) of Chino, CA, Glenda Borges of La Quinta, CA and Shirley Smith (Rod) of Long Beach, Mississippi; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, 1377 E. Hombre in Cottonwood.
