Theresa Mayorga Ortiz

Theresa Mayorga Ortiz, 90, of Clarkdale died Friday December 31, 2010 in her home. Theresa was married to John M. Ortiz for 57 years. They were married in Flagstaff at Our Lady of Guadelupe Church on October 25, 1941. They moved to the Verde Valley in 1985 and built a new home in Clarkdale where they both lived until their passing. Mr. and Mrs. Ortiz were local business owners for many years in Flagstaff, having a convenience store in the early years, followed by the Encanto Restaurant and later owners of the Encanto Tortilla Shop. Friends and family will remember the pleasant welcoming Mrs. Ortiz would give in caring and taking in college tudents and friends of their four children. Always an open home and open heart. Mrs. Ortiz loved to work in her rose garden and laso enjoyed making porcelain dolls. She was a great seamstress and loved making the doll clothing. Mrs. Ortiz is survived by her son John (Marian) of Cottonwood, daughter JoAnn Lesko (William) of Flagstaff, daughter Loretta Stearley (Robert) of Salt Lake City, Utah, sister Josephine Neihart (James) of Tucson, sister Lucy M. Cruz of San Marcos, California; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Ortiz was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Lucia Mayorga. Husband John, son Richard (Dickie), sister Hortensia Guiterrez and brother Henry Mayorga. A visitation will be Friday January 7 at the Westcott Funeral Home form 5 to 7 PM. The rectitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 PM. A Funeral mass will be held Saturday January 8 at the Imaculate Conception Parish, 700 N. Bil Grey Rd., Cottonwood at 10:30 AM. Father David J.
