Thomas Edward Mulcaire

Thomas Edward Mulcaire, 67, passed away on Aug. 31st, 2014 in his home, on the original homestead, in Cornville, AZ. He was born Nov 1, 1946 in Cottonwood, AZ to Thomas and Erma Mulcaire (Self). As a young child, Tom served as an alter boy at the Catholic Church in Jerome. He attended Mingus Union High School on the hill, ran on the cross-country team and worked construction with his dad. After high school, Tom joined the Navy. Due to his construction background, he was assigned to the Navy Seabees. He proudly served 2 tours in Vietnam and was wounded in combat. One of the best deals Tom every made was to teach a pilot to run a blade and the pilot to teach him how to fly. After an honorable discharge from the service, he followed in his father\u0027s footsteps and started his own excavation business called Have Grade Will Blade, constructing roads under Forest Service contracts. With a tremendous amount of hard work, Tom\u0027s efforts expanded into multiple successful businesses including: TTT (Tom\u0027s Turd Tanks), Bedrock Aggregate, Central Arizona Materials, Bradshaw Redimix, Tom Mulcaire Contracting and Bedrock Landscape Materials. Tom was once referred to as an icon by our local newspaper. This was a true statement because he was always the guy the community went to when they needed to build a park, construct new ball fields, sponsor a banner, and purchase livestock projects at the Verde Valley Fair. He helped make the Old Tyme Country Fair at the Cornville School a success while serving as an auctioneer and dropping ping -pong balls out of his plane for fundraising efforts. Tom\u0027s love for his community and the children in it continued when he was elected to the MUHS School Board. He also served as the President of the Cottonwood-Oak Creek School Board. He was a proud supporter and sponsor of many athletic teams, activity clubs and especially the FFA. Tom was an avid pilot, never missing an opportunity to take a friend flying. He cherished his flights to his ranch in Mancos Colorado with his wife and 4 dogs. His interests included riding his Harley, jeeping, hunting, camping, raising livestock, collecting antiques and vintage cars. A big personality that could light up any room; Tom will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his handsome smile, a strong work ethic and his ability to make others laugh. He will be deeply missed by those that loved him. He is survived by his wife, Kami, and her three children, Chance, Kiersa and Kylee. He is also survived by his brother Mike Mulcaire (Kindra) of Cottonwood; sister Patricia Wallace (Cecil) of Phoenix; sister Sheila Mongini (David) of Cottonwood; his children: Kalene Tackett (Randy) of Cottonwood; Kimberly Mulcaire (Anthony) of Rimrock; Pierre Mulcaire (Kristi) of Rimrock; Jess Mulcaire (Shanna) of Camp Verde; and his grandchildren: Chance, Justin, Colby, Shelby, Shailee, Aubrey, Tristen, Aislynn, McKenzie, Brynna, Kaizlee and Cheznee; 9 nieces and nephews and his 4 dogs; Scrappy, Speedy, Hot Rod and Bear. A Funeral Mass will be Sept 6, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery with military honors. A reception will be held at 1:00 pm at Verde Valley Fairgrounds in the Commercial Building. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
