VeElla L. Becchetti

VeElla Lee (Fitchett) Becchetti, 79, of San Diego, California and formerly of Cottonwood died August 16 in El Cajon, California. She was born in Cottonwood on June 5, 1924. A lifelong resident of Arizona, she lived many years in Phoenix, returning to Cottonwood in 1989 and moving to San Diego, California in 2000 to be near her daughter, Brenda. During World War II Vee lived and worked in Los Angeles, after the war, she returned to Cottonwood where she married Anton \u0027\u0027Donny\u0027\u0027 Becchetti in 1946. He preceded her in death in August 1991. Vee retired from American Express, she was one of their original employees when they opened the credit card operations in Phoenix. She had worked in Office Administration both at American Express and other companies. Vee was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, good friend and neighbor. She also loved pets and had several wondeful dogs including Corde, Hotie and Tia. She also loved nothing more than fishing and relaxing on the river especially the Verde River near Cottonwood and Camp Verde. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Don Wyatt of California, Donna Kimsey and Joel Hugley of Denver and her grandchildren Stephanie and Christopher Maderazzo (Brenda) of Phoenix. Vee was dearly loved by all who knew her and her kind and gentle spirit will be mmissed. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, September 17 in the Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave., Cottonwood at 11 AM. A luncheon will follow at Godard Hall of Verde Valley Manor. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Assocation, 2929 So. 48th St., Tempe, AZ 85282.
