Vesta Elizabeth Northcross was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on August 23, 1908. Vesta had four children, twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren. She resided in Clarkdale, Arizona for 38 years. She restored a home that miners had abandoned when the copper mine shut down in the 1940\u0027s. She opened her door for those whose hearts needed healing and they were. She believed in giving back to her community. She among others restored all the curtains in the gymnasium and the ladies meeting room for the city of Clarkdale. She served Meals on Wheels and worked in the community thrift shop. She was a life long democrat always active in the party and a feminist long before it was popular. She was given a 100th birthday party which 120 people attended. The city of Clarkdale honored her by naming a "Vesta Northcross Day" on her birthday. She was loved by many and will be missed by many.
