Virginia D. Blackford

D. Virginia Blackford, 87, of Cottonwood died April 11. She was born January 1, 1916 in Trilla, Illinois, the daughter of Tony Guy (TG) Brown and Ina Myrtle (Reed) Brown. Mrs. Blackford served her country in World War II as a WAC stationed primarily at the Santa Ana Army Air Base in santa Ana, California. This was a pilot training base. She retired from RCA in findley, Ohio and moved to Cottonwood. Mrs. Blackford attended Clarkdale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Geneva Inez (Brown) Yingling and Ouida Yvonne (Brown) Schisler. Mrs. Blackford leaves a nephew, Tony Louis Schisler and a niece Myrelle McHale, both of Cottonwood. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 10 AM.
