Virginia D. Sullins

Virginia Dell Sullins, 95, of Sedona, passed away in her home on April 29. She was born on June 9, 1919, in Detroit, Michigan, into a family of vaudeville entertainers known nationwide as the Dell Review who performed character dancing from soft shoe routines to the Mexican Hat dance. From the age of 5, she danced with her two brothers and two sisters in well-known theatres such as the Palace Theatre in New York to the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix. The family travelled repeatedly from New York to points west, eventually making their home base in Los Angeles. In 1940, Virginia and her sister Annabelle received a year\u0027s contract to dance at the world-renowned nightclub, Kelly\u0027s in Panama City, Panama. It was there that Virginia met and married her husband, Chester Vernon Sullins, a Texan working on the Panama Canal. After the death of her husband in 1953, Virginia worked many years as an insurance adjuster. In her later years, she worked as a salesperson at Sears, where she retired. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Verna Birch (Joseph) of Cornville, her grandsons Christopher George Brailo (Courtney) of Reno, Nevada, and Stephen James Brailo (Arianna) of Cathedral City, California, and two nephews, Charles Porchia and Anthony Dell. A private celebration of Virginia\u0027s life will be held with family and friends at the home of her daughter Gerry and Joe Birch in Cornville at 2 p.m. on May 9.
