Virginia M. Umbaugh, 86, resident of Cottonwood, passed away at her home, early Thursday morning, July 26, 2007. She was born July 1, 1921 in South Bend, Indiana to Walter Harmon and Leuetta Esther (Watters) Manges. She was a graduate of Central High School. She worked as an Insurance Sales Executive-from which she was retired; she also taught at the Sedona Montessori School. Virginia also taught custom tailoring in adult education classes; she was treasurer and president when the South Bend Women's Division of Chamber of Commerce was created; and she was a part of the local South Bend T.V. She was a member of the One in Christ Church in Cottonwood. When Virginia was 65, she took part in the Youth with a Mission (YWAM), and traveled to Hawaii, Australia, Malaysia and China to spread the word of God. She was also very active in numerous charities; where she was able to help others by supporting and teaching them to help themselves. Virginia loved traveling throughout the United States, visiting many sights, and enjoying the scenery as the miles passed by. She also enjoyed sewing and reading. She lived life to the fullest; she fulfilled her life long quest to learn from and teach others. She was a loving mother; and a dedicated daughter, as she cared for her mother while breaking new grounds as a successful career woman. She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Virginia Lee Jefferson; and her sister, Dorothy LaVelle. Virginia was the mother of Patricia Schone (Chris Reed) of Malibu, California; the sister of Joan Wells of South Bend, Indiana; the grandmother of Brian (Kristin) Jefferson, and the great-grandmother of Lindsay Jefferson, all of Allen, Texas.
