Warren K. “Skip” Heyer, Jr. left this earthly world May 25, 2022. Born in Missoula, Montana in March of 1945. He was active in 4-H and was Missoula County’s Representative for both State and National Congress. He graduated from the University of Montana a Commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, serving with distinction in Germany, Korea and Vietnam, honorably discharged in 1972. His awards include the Soldier’s Medal, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.

Skip managed Montgomery Ward Automotive in Billings, Montana, and Bakke Tire in Missoula. He was also active the Masonic Lodge, Shriner Clowns, and Past Master (1993-94) of Missoula Masonic Lodge 13. In 1992, he married his absolute best friend and soulmate, Chris. They were married for 30 years. They moved to Cornville, Arizona in 1998, where he managed Cottonwood Big O Tires until injury brought an early retirement. Skip’s second career was with Verde Valley Fire District.  He was instrumental in promoting and teaching CPR and First Aid for 23 years. He retired in January 2022, certifying over 20,000 individuals in the Verde Valley.

Family meant everything to Skip. He is survived by his wife, Chris; daughter Melissa (Rick) Ryckman; granddaughters, Daarte Matteau; Shelby, Isabella, and Alexandria Ryckman; his mother, Esther Heyer, his brother Doug (Nancy) Heyer, many sisters and brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Skip was diligent, generous, and the best of the best. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the American Legion Post 25, 480 S. Calvary Way, in Cottonwood, Arizona.
