William "Bill" Fred Hamilton

William "Bill" F. Hamilton, 71, resident of Cottonwood, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008. He was the son of William Harold and Marie Katherine (Berberich) Hamilton and was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 22, 1936. As a child, he attended the Trinity Lutheran School in Elgin, Illinois. He also received education as a Pipefitter. Bill served his country in the United States Army during the Korean as a SP3 (T). For his service and dedication he received the Wings/Airborne Medal, Good Conduct Medal, national Defense Service Medal and Parachutist Badge. Professionally, Bill was a Postal Worker and a Police Officer in Roselle, Illinois. He also worked for Caterpillar in Aurora, Illinois; as well as for Illinois Gas Company and Hollywood California Gas Company. Bill was a very special and unique individual who was know for being an all-around good person with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to laugh and joke with those around him and will be remembered for such. He was intelligent, mechanical and spiritual. He was a family oriented man, who filled his roles as husband, father, and grandfather with love and greatness. He was also known for his love of NASCAR racing, drag racing, cars, motorcycles, and antique military vehicles. He was a Marksman with both rifle and pistol, he enjoyed watching the history and military channels on TV; he held an interest for politics and fishing; and he loved to dance. A Memorial Service will be held to honor his memory on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 11:00am at the Peace Lutheran Church in Cottonwood; where Bill was a faithful member who served as Chairman on the Board of Trustees. Inurnment will take place at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale. Bill leaves behind his bride of 4 years, Marilyn Hamilton of Cottonwood; his son, Patrick William Hamilton of Illinois; his daughters, Lisa Michelle Bennett of Genoa, Illinois, Anna Marie Hamilton of Wisconsin, and Laura Pomerenke of Colorado; a sister, Lillian Fisher of California; and three grandsons.
