William R. Smith

William R. Smith, 91, of Cottonwood died April 23. He was born June 2, 1917 in Hamden, Connecticut, the son of William A. and Mary Sullivan Smith. He was a graduate of West Haven, Connecticut schools. Mr. Smith a newspaper owner, publisher and editor. His interests included reading and walking. His wife, Ruth C. Smith preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, William A. Smith (Deborah) of Flagstaff; daughters, Catherine Walsh (James) of New Haven, Vermont and Nancy S. Simmons of Cottonwood; a brother, Vincent J. Smith of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; sisters Irene C. Smith and Mary F. Smith, both of West Haven, Connecticut; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
